Thanks to an abusive father and a string of bad relationships, Riley McCage learned the hard way that people are not kind without a reason. Now, after landing a job at popular gay bar Pot O Gold, Riley is on the right track–until the night Boxer finds him drunk and drugged in the back room of an exclusive sex party.
Donald “Boxer” Boxwood wasn’t looking for anything beyond some casual kink until he peeled Riley off the floor and gave him a safe place to stay. But there’s something compelling about the guy crashing on his couch, and the two forge an instant friendship that eases into unmistakable attraction. Despite Riley’s hesitancy, Boxer knows one thing to be true: he needs Riley in his life.
Riley risked everything to run away and build a new life for himself, and his secrets aren’t something he’d ever wish upon his kind, gentle new friend. But when the past comes to call, he’ll have no choice but to put his trust in Boxer…and believe people can change enough to deserve a second chance.
Although this is only the fourth book I have read by A M Arthur I feel able to say that she creates rounded male characters who are emotionally vulnerable, with beautiful hearts. Finding Their Way is not an exception to this rule, yet I also think that the story’s tone is different. Riley is indeed keeping a part of his past secret and is dealing with how he was manipulated by his ex – but Riley is not tormented by these emotions. Finding Their Way is hopeful; we know that Boxer and Riley will have their HEA yet still we are compelled by their story.
I think one of the most refreshing aspects of A M Arthur’s new release is her acknowledgement of the fact that not every gay man likes anal sex. However, Riley and Boxer still have a healthy sexual relationship and instead of assuming the roles of ‘top’ and ‘bottom’, they explore being a ‘sub’ and ‘dom’.
A M Arthur develops Finding Their Way so as to include characters we have previously met, without interrupting the flow of the story. Riley works at Pot O’God with Donner and Boxer is best friends with James and Elliot.
Riley and Boxer are now my favourite of A M Arthur’s men because of their cuteness, openness and passion, but I have a feeling that in his story Elliot might try and take their spot! A M Arthur is one of the very few authors who have made my ‘automatic buy’ list and I am very excited for her next two releases.
