*My individual reviews for Captive and Learning to Spy (Behind the Stars #1&2) can be found HERE.*
Behind The Stars is unlike any other story I have read. Over the course of the six short volumes which make up the full novel Leigh Talbert Moore layers together romance, mystery, and sci-fi.
The main character is Prentiss, whose capture and objective to free herself and her friends, means she develops into so much more than the small and idealistic young woman that we meet at the outset of the story. Prentiss becomes a real heroine, placing herself in possible danger to uncover insider information about the strange invaders of Dabb Creek.
It is Prentiss’ desire for clarity which leads her to befriend one of her captors. Gallatin appears removed from his counterparts and working to a different agenda. Though this means he is an intriguing character I also think that his relationship with Prentiss is an outcome we can easily predict.
It is at the point that Prentiss is faced with someone from her life pre-camp that we assume her freedom is guaranteed, only for Leigh Talbert Moore to twist the story, introducing a new level of violence and fear.
Behind The Stars has the HEA we have grown to expect from Young Adult romances, but the route Leight Talbert Moore takes us on to reach it is new, exciting and perfect for fans of the genre, who like their stories with a few surprises!
