Susan Mac Nicol’s amazing story, Saving Alexander, was one of the first m/m books I read and instantly I was hooked (and not just on the sexy cover model!). Susan Mac Nicol is a kind and warm person, as well as one of my favourite authors and I am really excited she agreed to be the first author to guest post on my Male Monday spot!
Susan Mac Nicol has written a total of 10 full-length novels, as well as an assortment of short stories. Her first published title was Cassandra by Starlight, a (heterosexual) contemporary romance, followed by its sequel, Together in Starlight.
Her m/m romance titles include Stripped Bare, Saving Alexander, Worth Keeping, Waiting For Rain, the Double Alchemy duology, Love and Punishment and Love You Senseless.
Now it’s over Susan Mac Nicol to tell you all about why she writes m/m titles and her exciting new release!!
I’ve been asked to write about why I write M/M and what is it that appeals to me. You know, I’ve been asked this question so many times before and I still don’t really have the answer. Is it because sex between two men just seems to be hotter than het sex? Yes. Is it because you can make your characters masculine yet vulnerable at the same time and strip out some of those stereotypes about men being strong and never showing emotion? Yes. Is it because writing the sex scenes makes your nether regions tingle and you actually blush when you’re writing? Yes. Is it because two men together are better than one and we’d all rather have both of them ourselves as long as they like the ladies…oh sorry, I digress on that one. The answer is Yes anyway 🙂
It’s all of the above and probably a load more as well. The bottom line is – like a fish, you get hooked. Not the most original analogy but it works. And it’s late, I’ve just written three other blog posts and my brain is about to switch off so please forgive me for my lack of creativity.
Sooo..I have a new release coming out on the 23rd February. It’s called Sight and Sinners, and it’s book two in my Men Of London series. This is the blurb….
THE MEN OF LONDON
From Charing Cross to Waterloo, there’s no escaping love.
28-year-old Draven Samuels has a tragic past, but as an investigator with a high-profile London company he now gets what he wants. Tough, sarcastic, and sceptical, he has no patience for lies and even less for people who waste his time. Even if they’re as beautiful as the wild and dark-haired Taylor Abelard. Especially when they’re talking over the body of a murder victim.
Psychic Taylor Abelard is used to people calling him a freak. He can see past events and feel the ghostly vibrations of people close to him who’ve passed on. It’s why he doesn’t get too close to the living. But this time, against his better judgment, despite Draven’s mocking rejoinders, Taylor will get closer than ever before. The mystery surrounding a dead friend will lead the two men down a dark and seedy trail of blackmail and lies. Add in the heartbreak of a family tragedy, and events lead them straight into each other’s arms. By the end of this night, all their demons will have risen—and been banished with the dawn.
And here’s a short excerpt. I hope you enjoy it !
It was about slick, hot flesh covered in lube and sweat, the sounds of sex echoing in the warm air, bodies pistoning and driving, arching and twisting and the feel of Taylor’s hands on Draven’s body, neither of them caring now about the old rule.
As Draven gasped and felt his balls constrict and as the first hot jets of fluid filled the condom and Taylor, he knew with absolute finality that this was where he belonged. With this man, in this man, and as part of this man and there was no way on God’s green earth he was ever going to let him go.
His climax reached and spent, he heard Taylor’s loud gasp of completion as his belly grew warm with Taylor’s come and the scent of musk and sweat filled the air. Draven collapsed on the sticky, wet stomach of his lover. He sought Taylor’s mouth and kissed him gently, not the rough, rude action born of desire or lust like before but rather the soft, passionate kiss of possession and affection.
“Mine,” he whispered against Taylor’s lips. “You are mine.”
Taylor nodded, eyes sleepy. “Yours,” he agreed. “Definitely.”
