Title: A Week In New York
Author: Louise Bay
Series: The Empire State Trilogy #1
Release Date: October 21st 2014
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Erotica

Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She’s tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she’s a magnet for men who don’t deserve her.
A week’s vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.
Super-successful serial seducer Ethan Scott has some rules of his own. He doesn’t date, he doesn’t stay the night, and he doesn’t make any promises.
It should be a match made in heaven. But rules are made to be broken.

Ethan Scott oozes money, power and sex, but his philosophy is simple; f**k them but don’t get involved!
Anna is in New York for a week to spend time with her best friend whilst she recovers from the latest of her failed relationships. Anna’s new romantic theory is definitely, No Men!
It is not a case of insta-love the night they meet. The desire they experience for each other takes them both by surprise and leads them into making a holiday fling arrangement.
Louise Bay is clever and writes using both viewpoints, but unusually we see Ethan opening up more than Anna. Whilst she is guarded, he makes no pretense of wanting to spend all the time he can with her, in and out of the bedroom.
In my opinion, in books like A Week in New York it can be difficult for the author to find a balance between the steaminess and plot substance. In parts this does become , ‘today we had sex . .again and again’, which not only turns us readers green with envy, but becomes repetitive.
A Week in New York is a short but HOT read – perfect with an afternoon cup of coffee. Luckily I am following this up with Autumn in London!

Title: Autumn in London
Author: Louise Bay
Series: The Empire State Trilogy #2
Release Date: December 2nd 2014
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Erotica

Anna Kirby went to New York to escape heartbreak and have some fun. She wasn’t meant to meet someone . . . someone like Ethan. Now, back in London, she’s faced with another man to get over.
Ethan Scott broke every one of his rules during his week with Anna and now he can’t seem to go back to life before her. A business trip to London gives him the opportunity to change his rules for good. Will he take it?
Autumn in London is the second part of The Empire State Series, a series of three novellas.

In Autumn in London, we find Ethan and Anna unhappy, following the end of their week-long fling and both wishing that they had a way of contacting one another.
The couple are conveniently reunited by a twist in the plot and the passion between them is quickly reignited.
Again it is Ethan who we know more about, as Louise Bay shows him in work mode, as Anna’s lover and the different persona he has as a brother and uncle. As a character, he becomes softer, with more humour and we can understand Anna’s infatuation with him.
At the point Anna and Ethan declare their love for one another, I was a little open-mouthed in disbelief. Yes, we can see the lust between them and even the intense need, but we have had no proof that they actually know each other.
Autumn in London is definitely more Erotica than contemporary romance and because this is a couple who declare that their relationship is more than just sex, I felt cheated.
In the last of the trilogy, I expect that Ethan and Anna will continue their ‘romance’ and am interested to see the scenario Louise Bay creates.

About the Author
I write sexy, romantic, contemporary novels – the kind I like to read!
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the seventies and eighties, I love all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so I’ll settle for books and films.
I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don’t have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.
